German Polo Association
Greeting from the President
Dear DPV members and polo friends,
It is a great honour and pleasure for me to welcome you all to the start of the 2024 polo season on behalf of the German Polo Association. We are looking forward with great anticipation to a season full of exciting matches, passionate competitions and unforgettable moments.
This season, we are focussing in particular on promoting our youth work. The next generation of polo players are at the heart of our sport and we want to ensure that they receive the best possible support and training. Through targeted programmes and events, we will continue to foster enthusiasm for polo among young people and develop their talents.
We can proudly look on a packed tournament calendar in all divisions. As always, the German Championships promise exciting competitions at the highest level, and for the first time we are looking forward to having four Ladies Polo tournaments in our calendar. The participation of talented female players will undoubtedly provide additional dynamism and elegance on the field.
Another highlight of this season are the International Competitions 2024, first and foremost the 1st Ladies Polo World Championship. Germany, as the reigning European champion, is proud to be nominated for this prestigious event. We are confident that our team will represent the country with great commitment and passion.
May this 2024 polo season be full of health, joy, fair play and great polo matches with friends.
Here's to an unforgettable and accident-free 2024 season!
**Let's enjoy playing polo!
Yours
Oliver "Nolly" Winter
Impressions: Polo in Germany
Once the "sport of kings", polo has developed into a fast-paced leisure activity for many hundreds of sportsmen and sportswomen (and even more horses) in Germany alone.
Since the founding of the DPV in 1972, both the number of members and the activities have increased - from regional tournaments and German and international championships to a wide range of youth activities and social events.
The association accompanies and promotes all these events by, providing tournament schedules and monitoring that the events run according to the rules. The commissions of the federation check and award the handicaps of the players, are involved in the promotion of young talents and pay attention to the observance of animal welfare regulations. Last but not least, the association assumes the patronage of the German Polo Championships.
