German Polo Association
Greeting from the President
Dear DPV Members and Polo Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2025 polo season!
This season promises not only thrilling tournaments and high-level competitions but also significant international challenges for German polo.
A major highlight this year is the European Championship in Poland, where our national team will represent Germany at the highest level. Another exciting event is the Ladies World Championship in Italy, where our German European champions are automatically qualified and have the opportunity to prove themselves on the big stage and proudly represent Germany.
At the same time, we are delighted to see a continuously growing tournament landscape, offering players of all levels the chance to develop and fully embrace their passion for polo.
The promotion of young talent and the recruitment of new members remain key priorities for the DPV. Through targeted programs, we aim to support young players and provide them with a promising future in German polo. The women’s polo scene is also expanding, with an increasing number of Ladies tournaments, reflecting the positive growth of our sport. Additionally, the German High Goal Championship will once again take place on the final weekend at the most beautiful polo venue in the world: Maifeld Stadium in Berlin.
Beyond competition, polo represents team spirit, fair play, sportsmanship, fun, and community—values that define our sport and that we will continue to uphold this season. Let’s look forward together to a year filled with exciting matches, unforgettable moments, and great sporting achievements!
I wish you all a successful and injury-free 2025 season!
Let’s enjoy playing polo – together!
Yours, Nolly (Oliver Winter)
Impressions: Polo in Germany
Once the "sport of kings", polo has developed into a fast-paced leisure activity for many hundreds of sportsmen and sportswomen (and even more horses) in Germany alone.
Since the founding of the DPV in 1972, both the number of members and the activities have increased - from regional tournaments and German and international championships to a wide range of youth activities and social events.
The association accompanies and promotes all these events by, providing tournament schedules and monitoring that the events run according to the rules. The commissions of the federation check and award the handicaps of the players, are involved in the promotion of young talents and pay attention to the observance of animal welfare regulations. Last but not least, the association assumes the patronage of the German Polo Championships.
